About JewelKat
Jewel Kat is a handmade jewelry brand that has the goal of bringing nature closer to you.It started in 2014 in my father in law ceramic studio and the first pieces were made from broken necklaces and bits of broken jewelry.
During the years JK has gone through many styles and techniques. In 2020 it finally found it’s purpose and truth - making jewelry sonely inspired and with nature.
The pieces feature real flowers and each flower is collected and pressed by my son and I. My hubby also loves the outdoors so It’s very easy to take trips to collect treasures with these two.
I could buy the flowers already pressed and ready to be set but I would not guarantee that the flowers were collected in a sustainable manner. It is also important for me to collect flowers that are native to my region and that bring inspiration to my work.
More than a piece with flowers inside, I want the piece you choose, to bring you a little bit of the joy of nature every time you wear it. Most of us don’t have the chance to be surrounded by fields of wild flowers so consider your piece as a portal to that special place you like to go for walks and picnics.
Smile is the key wedding photography, Lagos, AlgarveFrom the piece to the scent you will feel when opening your parcel, purchasing a Jewel Kat piece is an experience that I am sure you will appreciate.
I take care and pride when designing and making your piece so it can be your favourite for many years to come.
About Catarina
I was born in Braga and moved to the sunny Algarve in 2006. I’ve had many careers in this life. Started as a dancer and a dance teacher (Hip-Hop and Belly dance if you are wondering), took a degree in tourism (because we all need a stable job right?) worked in hospitality and later in corporate events organization. For many years I’ve also worked in my husband company assisting his clients and doing some bike maintenance when needed.
The jewelry came in when I was about 13 and started to make beaded necklaces. My first investor was my sister (or may I say her piggy bank). After stopping for many many years and with the rise of Youtube the curiosity came back. Most of the techniques I’ve learned were from Youtube. I did have private classes in silversmithing but because of all the bureaucracy in Portugal and financial investment that is required I never went that way. Maybe one day.
I love experimenting, challenging myself and most importantly, I love knowing that something that came out of my imagination and hands resonated with someone.Â
Everytime I send a piece away is such a joy and I truly feel proud that someone chose one of my pieces to celebrate a special day.
